The Long Drive

About us

If you think about anything in life too hard, and you know the truth in what lies before you, you’d probably never do anything.

It seems that there’s always a sensible reason to choose the less adventurous path; save the money, stay warmer / drier, relax a bit, have another hour of sleep or just watch your favourite program on TV.

We’ve decided that all the above can wait a bit, that Africa needed exploring and the mundane needed to be put on pause. Life required a little shot in the arm (or 20 to be exact), and we thought that a jolt of electricity (in the form of this trip) would either fill the gap, or at the very least, provide us with a few more interesting war stories for our old age.

So our house is rented out, our careers are on hold, we’ve bought a Land Cruiser, planned a route, packed up our equipment and found an incredibly clever and worthy charity to support as we go.

We’re young(ish), believe in ourselves, adventure and seizing the moment, and we’re looking forward to sharing our story and our progress with you. Enjoy the site, and feel free to get in touch with us as we go along.

The road awaits...
