Safmarine - People Making The Difference

The story of Lawrence which gave birth to the "Lawrence’s Roundabout Well Appeal” (LRWA) has inspired Safmariners to participate in this very worthy project. Safmarine, having previously participated in similar water related project (such as Hippo rollers) in poor communities recognises that in many parts of the world women and children walk many miles for water each day. This sadly keeps many children from attending school. 

Safmarine is privileged to support the LRWA initiative (of the installation of roundabouts in school playgrounds) in Malawi, and in doing so, ensuring that children attend school and simultaneously provide a mechanism to draw water.

Safmarine is planning a global team building event called Hercules, which will take place in Mechelen, Belgium in June this year. All Safmarine teams (72) are encouraged to raise funds, the target per team is 250 euros. If the Safmarine Hercules teams are successful in reaching their target, two communities, will be enjoying the benefit of two new water pumps in the near future.

Safmarine is also proud to partner with a young married couple, David Gittelson and Naomi Ruben, who plan to drive through 13 African countries to create awareness on water scarcity and also raise funds for Lawrence's Roundabout Well Appeal.

Together, our goal is to purchase at least four pumps which will give over 8.000 people access to water. We wish David and Naomi a great journey and look forward to welcoming them in our Safmarine offices during their expedition.
